Hello readers! today I will talk you about the program of my career. I study History and theory of art, the program of my career has eight semesters, wich focus on history and aesthetics. In my opinion this program has shortcomings and i will tell you a bit about them.

Firts, the main problem with this study program is that it bases its knowledge on western aesthetics, mainly European art. personally, this is a problem because it does not allow me to develop my interests and led me to complement my career in other institutions. I consider it important that a career like this one should incorporate Chilean art and pre-Columbian aesthetics into its program. I think that if this happens, there would be more interest of scholars and foreing students interested in learning and developing research in our country.

Another one of the big problems is the connection of the theory with practice, matters of heritage conservation. Restoration courses have been taken out of the program. It is important that the practice is developed, it is the motive that moves the theory. The practice opens new dimensions of knowledge.
I feel that the institution and especially the bachelor of art, has developed its teaching from foreign knowledge. It is true that the "history of art" is born in Europe, but is our job to open new ways of understanding art and valuing our identity.

Finally, I consider it a good program if the interest of the student are linked to European art and its aesthetics. For this, the faculty has good academics and publications.
